So sorry this is happening to you, Caryn. Yes, I think there are a lot of people who don't know what to say or what to do when someone they care about is ill. It takes courage to stick around, even if you are uncomfortable. We as a culture need to make it easier to talk about illness and death. Love to you this holiday season.

For me, it isn't your cancer that keeps me away. It is, unfortunately, the business of everyday life, and the inability to plan ahead and to prioritize time with friends.
